Richard Buffington

The Society of Friends (Quakers) began in England in the 1650s, when they broke away from the Puritans. Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn, as a safe place for Friends to live and practice their faith.

Richard Buffington was born in 1679 in Upland, Delaware County, Pennsylvania,

He married married Phebe Grubb. Phebe was the daughter of John and Frances Grubb.

Phebe was a minister among Friends, and after his death, she married Simon Hadley by 1761, and lived in the edge of New Castle County.
